Floral & Striped Ebony Dresses

What?!?  Two blog posts in as many days?  I have a ridiculous backlog of things I've been meaning to post, so I'm working through them while chillin' inside with the AC on since it's a million degrees + humidity outside this weekend.  Central air conditioning is pretty fantastic you guys.  Also, we rearranged the living room yesterday and I'm really diggin' it.  Wee!

Ok, back to sewing.  This is a sewing blog after all!  Back in mid-winter when the Closet Case Ebony T-Shirt & Dress pattern came out I scooped up some knits I had in my stash and sewed up a couple different ones.

[...]
Both very different!  Bright and floral, and a nice stripey black one.  This dress is SO DARN COMFY!  It's like wearing pajamas, but you still look work-appropriate. You can never go wrong with a good secret pajamas pattern.  I wore these fairly regularly through the late winter with black tights and my black oxfords (as pictured) with a cardigan thrown on top.  The tent-dress look is a bit of a new one for me... and as much as I like how it feels and looks in the front, the back not so much...  Of all the photos I took in these two dresses, I didn't save any of the ones from the back. Yikes!  No reading between the lines there.... Well, live and learn, right?  At least I tried something different!  One of my coworkers said that these dresses would be great for whenever I get pregnant (ugh). Which I guess is true, but that's not happening any time soon.

Since these dresses are really not that flattering on me, I'm thinking I'll shorten them up to t-shirt length.  They will definitely get more wear that way!  I made the regular sleeved version of the dress, but shortened up the sleeves to t-shirt length.  I don't know why the heck I didn't just make the raglan version though... Anyways - over all I'm pleased with a) how well these dresses came together and b) how well I managed to match up the stripes on the stripey one.  I probably won't make a dress version of this pattern again, but I can see a swingy tee in my future.
