#SewYourStashSeptember

We might be a week and a bit into the month already... but my friend Kate (@ilovecupkates) came up with this great idea to stick to only sewing what she has in her stash for the whole month of September.  I decided to join her in this pledge since I too, have an overflowing stash of fabric!

Lots of sewists have a self-imposed #fabricbuyingban from time to time, but we thought, “why not make this into a monthly challenge?!”  And so, we have #sewyourstashseptember!!

We want this challenge to be open-ended, so you don’t have to put a total ban on your fabric buying for the month if you don’t want to.  We all know there are sometimes some killer sales you just have to take advantage of!!  This challenge is meant to make you take a closer look at what you already have, and maybe fall back in love with some fabric you bought years ago and never used.

So!  Take a look through the piles of fabric you already have, and make your own #sewyourstashseptember pledge!

Making a Blogging Comeback

So, it's really been a while, eh?  The last time I shared something I made was back in March... and I've only had a couple posts since then, the last one being at the end of April.  Whoops!  Ah well, things happen, life gets busy, and I just haven't felt much like taking photos and blogging lately.  Despite this, I have been super busy in my sewing room!  I have a brand new machine because oh darn, the old one crapped out - a Pfaff Ambition 155 Anniversary Edition that my husband bought me for my 30th birthday (yay!) and I've been feeling really great about how my sewing skills are progressing.

So I do have lots I want to share, and I've been feeling the blogging itch lately, and I think I'm going to try and make it a more regular thing!  I did really enjoy putting together more detailed accounts of the things I've been making, and having a record of what I made and the alterations I made to the pattern is a helpful thing to go back to.  It has also been helpful as I learn and develop my sewing skills to do a quick google of a pattern I'm thinking of making, and read other sewists' experiences and see more photos so I can go into a project with a bit of research.  If I can help at least one other person in their sewing journey, I'm pleased!

I started this blog back in September/ October 2015 as a way to share my personal challenge of going an entire year without buying any clothing.  After that year I just continued to share things I've made, as it honestly isn't that much of a challenge to not buy clothing anymore... I actively dread going to the mall.  So!  I'm going to kick things off again this month/ beginning of October and see how things go this time 'round.

I think I might try and get at least one post up a week, whether that's a finished make, something I'm in the middle of, or just jotting down my thoughts on my sewing practice.  I also just have to listen to the print I have posted in my sewing room and get off my butt & the computer to go take some dang photos once in a while.  I have a couple things planned, and if the weather cooperates I'll get a whole whack of photos done soon and some blog posts scheduled!  Wish me luck 😉
