Les Fleurs Cleo Skirt

Now, everyone and their grandma has at least some of this fabric.  But seriously - who can blame them? It is SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL.  When this stuff first arrived at one of the local fabric shops, it was gone within hours of their instagram post about it.  Seriously!  I went in 3 hours after the post and the whole bold was GONE.  So, I ordered this fabric online from Rifle Paper Co. with a boxing day deal and waited patiently for it to arrive.  Then it sat on my shelf for a few months because I was too worried to ruin it, and hadn't quite decided on the right pattern that would show off the fabric nicely.

Made By Rae released her Cleo Skirt pattern at the end of January and I figured it would be a great pattern for the fabric.  Simple, comfortable (woo elastic waist!), and would work really well with the drape of the rayon.

I kinda stopped wearing skirts for a while, because I had put on some weight and they just weren't that comfortable.  My weight also tends to fluctuate over the course of a month, so having a skirt that always fit nicely, and looked nice wasn't the easiest.  Elastic, to the rescue!  This skirt keeps the clean look of a zippered skirt in the front with the flat waistband, and the elastic is in the back.  So.  Darn.  Comfy.  Even after a big lunch!

This pattern was also SUPER simple, and it has pockets.  I will definitely be making more of these! The pattern calls for more medium-weight fabrics, but I think it actually works best with something more flowy - like rayon.  For the early fall, I'm thinking I might sew up a mustard-yellow version, like this pinterest pin that I'm pretty sure everyone has pinned on a fashion inspo page...

Anyways, here's done more detailed shots of the skirt - not much more to say about it other than I'm really pleased with it!
